review 1: This was a suspenseful thriller with a a little bit of politics thrown in. A tad on the long side, but the denouement was exciting and led to a satisfying ending. I'll definitely check out more by this author when I want something exciting to read. (I knocked one star off just because the teenage character annoyed me too much and I didn't like how long the book was. But it was still an entertaining read.)
review 2: I read this series backwards so I am meeting Will Robie and Julie Getty from the past. Robie is a government hit man who refuses to hit a target that doesn’t feel right (a mother and her two children). Of course, this ticks off his superiors so Robie goes roque. By happenstance (or design?) he teams up with fourteen-year old Julie who is runnin... moreg from her own foster care situation and her parents’ past. Full of action and generally likable characters. With today’s headlines, I was a bit uncomfortable with the teaming of an adult male with a non-related young teen, but Baldacci and his character Robie make it work without any skeevy moments. less
