Book Review #5: Looking For Alaska – John Green

So far, this is the 2nd book of John Green that I have read.

After Glass Sword of Red Queen series, I have decided to read two books before I proceed with King’s Cage. I picked Ten Days In a Madhouse by Nellie Bly and a John Green novel, Looking For Alaska.

I really enjoyed how the story went. Somehow I can relate to Pudge/Miles for being a typical teenager who has not much social life in school and just loves reading books. Pudge is really into “last words” of different popular men known in poetry, lit, and even Presidents of America. In search of Great Perhaps, he decided to go to Culver Creek Boarding School wherein he met his dorm-mate Colonel and some friends, Alaska, Takumi, and Lara. Everybody in the group has a different personality. The whole book circles around different pranks headed by the Colonel and Alaska who is greatly known for making pranks. Pudge’s life in the dorm and school has never been fun with Alaska but it all goes crestfallen when the latter left the circle unexpectedly.

Alaska’s life story was really depressing and disappointing that for just one single snap and she was gone. I love how the friendship between Pudge and Colonel has grown deeper in the story.
