review 1: A nice enough story, with the overlapping Muslim and Christian stories of its characters. I realize that the gushing about this novel is in the majority... I'm glad you loved it... For me, the clutter of so many happily ever after characters, breathlessly finding their Earthly purpose, was just too vanilla and very Hollywood. At the book's end, I found myself looking for the next chapter, and resolution to match the characters' problems.
review 2: It's been a while since I've found a book that gets me crying and then smiling a few pages later.I loved the writing, the switching between narrators and even cultures. At the beginning I was wondering how all the stories were connected, but it all made sense in the end. When I read the first chapter, I had to doubl... moree check who the author was, quite unexpected beginning for me. How did I choose the book then, if the back cover didn't have a synopsis? I must have read what the book was about when I bought it months ago, but I guess what really caught my attention was the name, The Sweetness of Tears. :) less
