BUT… The trip gets off to a bad start when Leela’s ex-boyfriend shows up on their flight out of JFK. When they touch down in London, Leela Instagrams their every move in the hope Matt will come and find them… Which he does, along with the most gorgeous guy Sydney has ever seen.
Will Sydney’s summer fling last the distance? And what will happen when they all head home?
My Review:
I need an escape so bad. Really. I need it and I crave it, I would do anything to get away from this hectic life even for a day or two. Unfortunately, it’s not possible because I really do have too much on my plate now. This book came to me as though it was sent to me by my fairy god mother. Heh.
Too Dramatic, I KNOW!
We meet Sydney in this book, and she’s such a darling, she too like me needs a vacay so bad but chooses to decline the pleasure just so she can be there for agoraphobic mom. She was supposed to go on a Backpacking Tour across Europe with her best friend Leela, but as I mentioned before, it is almost impossible due to her circumstances.
Leela then made a plan with her then boyfriend-Matt, when Sydney decides to not go forward with the long term dream. That plan too came to a halt when she caught Matt kissing another girl because of his fear of commitment. Leela manages to convince Sydney to go on the holiday after all, (which I don’t know why she did not try earlier), and the pair took the flight and arrived at their first stop- London! Only one problem though, Matt along with another gorgeous friend decided to take the same flight and planned to tour around Europe as well.
DUN DUN DUN.
What I really loved about this book were the travelling. I could not stop raving about all the placed they visited and can’t help feeling like I am there with them as well. It was so well written! My favorite places from the book are Amsterdam & Switzerland. They enjoyed really cool activities there and I felt every bit of ecstasy along with them!
What I did not love was how selfish Leela was being the whole time! Here are some of the points I completely annoyed about Leela.
The Girls Guide To Summer also discusses about romance but what attracts me was the travelling, and I was genuinely excited whenever they embark on a journey to new city. It was so well written, good job Sarah!
This book revolves around friendship and travelling, two subjects very close to my dear dear heart. It’s also pretty fast paced, and doesn’t dwell on a topic too long. Although I wish I could shake Leela aggressively and talk some sense into her.
I really really enjoyed this summer read, I could barely put it down! Share with me if you have enjoyed it too! Thank you Pansing Malaysia for the review copy in exchange for an honest review. Lots of love to you guys!
