This film runs Dead Shack close for the highlight of the Dead of Night Film Festival.
Cannibals and Carpet Fitters is a rollicking good time.
I don’t really need to go into story specifics as the title pretty much explains the basics.
What we have is a bunch of incompetent carpet fitters who are given a job at the base of some very hungry cannibals.
It has the comedic sensibility of Shaun of the Dead with cannibals straight out of a Wrong Turn film.
Richard Lee O’Donnell’s Dean steals the show with some hilarious lines as he goes through the transformation from carpet fitter to reluctant hero.
The real triumph here though is that despite a short running time (just over 80 minutes) the carpet fitters are given enough to flesh them out to make you care about them when they’re in peril.
There’s some very entertaining, gory and action packed set pieces which will have you on the edge of your seat one second and laughing your head off another.
Cannibals and Carpet Fitters doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it thrives on this and is certainly one of the best horror comedies of recent years.
