review 1: I haven't read any of the other books in this series, but I thought that it wouldn't be an issue. I was wrong. There were a lot of things that I didn't understand, but I assume it's because I didn't read from the beginning and I didn't get the character development that I needed to understand what, and why things happened the way they did in this book. The book itself wasn't horrible, it just isn't a stand alone book, which I realize isn't the authors fault. If you haven't read the previous 13 books you shouldn't start here. Other than that, it was okay.

... moretial, but I felt the book was almost as tired as it seems Dismas has become in his old age. I thought the plot was a good one but it just never seemed to go anywhere. I hope The Keeper brings me back to the Dismas Hardy I've grown to love. less
