Back in September I stumbled across Lost in a Story’s challenge “Down the TBR Hole”, and I’ve spent every spare moment procrastinating my life away by continuing to do this challenge.
This has been helpful for me to narrow down my Goodreads “to-read” shelf and also keeps me consistently conscious of the books I’m adding to the shelf. Often times I’ll come across a book recommendation online and instantly go to add it to my shelf without questioning it. Seeing how long some of these books have been causally chilling on the shelf gives me motivation to be a little stingy when it comes to adding more.
Right now, my “t0-read” shelf is sitting at 1,366books!!!

I am SO HAPPY to finally be out of my “Sept 15 2012” books because those were the books I added when I first signed up for Goodreads and didn’t know what I was doing and probably just hit “add all!!” or something ridiculous like that. This book sounds interesting and important and I bet I would enjoy it, but I also just don’t think I’d get around to reading it.

I’ve seen Billy Collins’ poetry floating around for ages but I’ve honestly never done more than pick it up at the bookstore and put the book back down on the shelf. I just feel like I’m never going to prioritize reading his poetry over other books.

I don’t know what I was doing going through Goodreads books on Christmas Eve. I don’t even know what this book is about and I really don’t even remember ever hearing about this book. I don’t even remember seeing this in a bookstore recently.

I actually picked this book up a few months ago at the store and it still sounded interesting. Of course, I swapped it for another one, but it’s still on my radar.

I think my general rule with writing guide books should be if I don’t recognize the author, I’ll need to physically hold the book in my hands before committing to it. I don’t know who this author is or what makes his book stand out.

So I was actually intrigued by this book and wanted to see if it was something I’d be interested in, so I clicked it and it was a freaking picture book!! How disappointing. What was I thinking.

… I don’t even know what prompted me to want to read this. I don’t even like Andy Warhol that much. (This challenge is getting much easier.)

I did not realize this book was this old. Unless my years have been blending together I thought it was fairly recent. I actually just bought this book in November with the intention of reading it so I guess it stays.
conclusion: keep (physical TBR)

I’m not entirely sure if I’ll ever get a chance to read this; I’ve heard that it’s a fairly decent and entertaining classic so I should give it a try but it’s also fairly long and there are other classics I’d rather read instead.

UGHHHH am I realistically ever going to read this??? It’s one of those books I feel like I NEED to read but I know myself and it’s just not something I’m going to pick up.
conclusion: remove
Ruling: 8/10 books removedI’m speechless. I can’t believe I did that. I feel like I can conquer anything now. Eventually I’m going to work my way up to 10/10.
