Finding my truth

Back in January I was given a book called the Child Whisperer by a family member and VERY dear friend who knows me well. While I do love a good self-help book, I was a little skeptical about why I was being given it and when I would find time to read a 300 pager. This book is an energy profiling system that breaks down the human race into 4 types based on natural movements, tendencies, and facial features. It goes into depth on each type as to how they move, learn, interact with others, handle conflict, and many other life issues. It’s written to be relatable to mothers profiling their children BUT can easily be accessed in the adult realm, too. I wanted to know my kids’ types in order to relate to them in the best way for each, so I read it. While it’s impossible to put humans into a box, it really isn’t about that. It’s recognizing things about yourself that are innate and celebrating those things. It’s about being the best you that you can be and working with what God gave you.  I started reading with the intention of finding my kids’ types, but kept reading to also discover mine and my husband’s types. It has been pivotal in my life. It can be in yours, too.

Carol Tuttle’s energy profiling system is the most accurate one I’ve seen, and I’ve seen and taken a lot of quizzes, tests, and questionnaires on the topic (like I said, I love self-help). Other systems evaluate your personality. While those could lead to somewhat reliable results, personalities can be altered depending on what’s happened in your life and how it’s affected you. Your childhood could have produced learned responses to help you navigate it safely. Your interactions with peers could have led you to act a certain way to fit in, becoming sort of second-nature to you as an adult, but not your true nature. This is an energy profiling system, which means it evaluates the natural energy that you bring to life and lead with. There is a facial profiling system that goes with it, allowing you to evaluate your facial characteristics.

This sounds new age-ish and weird…Why are you telling me this, Katy? You are so weird. I don’t have time for this. Okay, valid points and yes it sounds weird, but I’m here to tell you, it’s dead-on if you pay attention to natural movements and facial characteristics.

I get nothing for telling you this, but it’s changed my life and if you give it a chance and have an open mind, I KNOW it will change yours. If you are religious, this will not take the place of God and your spiritual experience, but actual play into your being the best that HE created. It will motivate you to define your strengths and use those in HIS work if you so desire. It is life changing.

I had naturally moved through life with such speed, and had not been giving myself time to think about how I feel about things, my childhood, my early adulthood, the choices I’ve made, and how they’ve affected me. Those questions were starting to come up for me and I had been praying for answers. No lie, in popped that book into my lap. Boom!

This process has caused me to have great introspection on why I do the things I do and now there are ANSWERS. My life is suddenly making so much sense! Don’t mistake making sense for being perfect. Rather, all of the things I’ve done, said, and felt are fitting into place. I can also see room for improvement, but with this system it narrows it down to what I need to improve vs. what is wishing I were someone else. I have such a freedom to be just who I am and not worry about being too much for someone or too loud, crazy, or whatever negative talk I was telling myself. Now I know I can reframe my wording into PASSION. I have passion for life, for helping others, for telling my truths. I no longer have the tendency to wish I were more like someone or could do the things they can because I know the things I’m good at. We all have our strengths.

I will admit, I misprofiled myself incorrectly at first, typing myself as the person I thought I SHOULD be, not who I really am. I used my personality not my natural movement. I was ashamed at who I really was. I thought I was too much for people. I am not. I am who I am and this book was a catalyst to finding that person again. There are a variety of reasons someone could forget who they really are, their values, and what motivates them through life. Motherhood is one such life event. While being a mom is hands-down the best thing that ever happened to me, it is also one selfless act after another through the years that one could totally get lost in. Whatever the reason, get back to being YOU.

Carol has written several books on energy profiling, namely, It’s Just My Nature, Remembering Wholeness, and The Child Whisperer. If you would rather jump in and check it out right now, the website for the free energy profiling course (a few videos to watch) is https://my.liveyourtruth.com/dyt/new-energy-profiling-course/. You will have to provide your email, but you get very supportive emails from it, so no reason not to give it. Remember, I don’t get a THING for telling any of you this and also for being vulnerable on Spacebook (eek), BUT if this helps one person feel great about themselves then it’s worth it. I want to motivate you to be the best person you can be. I am so passionate about this, true to my nature. Do it!
