Folio and HoI: The Man with the Twisted Lip development

Since the initial idea for this illustration I have continued to draw out and develop how the house/building featured in the story might look.

The houses I felt were mos successful were ones that incorporated the sections with the pointed roof. Looking at these, it was suggested that I perhaps looked at making the building a terrace of houses and looked at the proportions and layout of the windows more and also try adding in all the brickwork as opposed to just sections. I also needed to pinpoint of section of the text that this was a specific reference to.

Above is the mostly finalised draft of the illustration. I have taken into account each of the suggestions that were made and agree that they have helped the image come together and feel more interesting and sophisticated. I have now specified the moment the illustration captures as being when Sherlock tells Watson that there was blood on the windowsill; I liked this idea as it gave the image a subtle focus that is only really obvious when given the context of the text and if the view looks closely at the image. The detail of the image that I feel should change is that in the text it describes the door to the house as being down the steps and I have it up the steps. Although its a minor detail it may be worth redesigning this section to be closer to the text.

With a note of the brickwork and tiles, I think that I will mostly liked hand print these using lino as I feel this will be an effective way pf reproducing them multiple times.
