review 1: I have read all three books, three times, and am starting on them for the fourth time. I will summarize my feelings by saying Soldiers (Director's Cut) and the first part of Mercenaries are brutal in so many ways, but they build up to a love that makes most other romances seem boring. If I had not spent so much time with my heart pounding, not being able to sleep until I got to through some parts, I would feel jealous that I had not felt that kind of love in my own life. Logically,I know that if I had gone through what Dan and Vadim had gone through, I would have killed myself or my lover. However, emotionally, I wish I had had a love that would have brought me to the feelings Dan and Vadim had for each other after their reunion and reconciliation in Thailand.I do beli... moreeve the characters changed at that point, and Dan became someone ales. Up to that point, Dan was fiercely loyal. Dan had committed his heart and soul to his country, and to Vadim. Then he starts screwing every guy he can? I don't believe it. I can still read the books again, but I'll skip the Dan-porn sections, because they just don't fit his character, and I don't like cheating that causes pain.
review 2: This book deserves 10 stars! making notes to myself so I will remember this bookyet I think I will always remember it.so thankful for the simple things we take for granted every daywater, fresh air, clean clothes, personal hygiene, razors, tooth brushes and tooth pasteyou know a roof over our heads, a bed.FOOD.war time is ugly and one night these two meet and that meeting sets offa revenge, hatred, spiraling finally into something beautiful. seven yearsin this book I think go by, comings and goings, a first kiss, the words I love youget said..and then get some tissues out AND then there is the ending!! OMG!!!all the thoughts and plans are laid bare for they haven't been alone in this bromance/romance!!! less
