Gold Coast Day 1 – Surfers Paradise

Before reading Gold Coast trip, make sure you have read Brisbane trip.

Our destination for this trip is Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast. After 90 minutes from Brisbane, the train stopped at Nereng station, which was outside of the main city, and then we caught the bus to Surfers Paradise. We headed straight to our hotel, Chateau Beachside Resort located a couple minutes to the beach. By the time we arrived in Surfers Paradise, it was almost dark. We checked in and had a bit of rest. The room we got could see the beach view and had a big living room and kitchen.

View from the hotel room

Surfers Paradise is a very popular suburb, which makes it attractive to tourists. Our hotel was just 5 minutes away from Surfers Paradise shopping area, where we were going to find some local restaurants to have a dinner to night.

But first, we headed to SkyPoint Observation Deck located on level 77 of the Q1 building. The building is 230 metres off the ground where you can enjoy 360 degree views of the Gold Coast beaches and city. The ticket for general admission is $14 per person. More tickets available here!

Local restaurant we found and looked really interesting was Black Coffee Lyrics. The restaurant is opened from 5pm to midnight, lucky for us. It was very hard to find the place so we rang them. The interior of the restaurant was interesting as well as the food. The food we ordered was so delicious. Very recommend if you visit Surfers Paradise.

After having the delicious food, we walked around the shopping area to the main beach where there was a night market. We got this cool typographic names of ours from the night market!

Follow us to the second day in Queensland where we explored more about Gold Coast and the Sea World!
