Hershey Bears Announce Roster Cuts, Trim Roster by 10

After recently beginning their own training camp, the Capitals’ American Hockey League Affiliate Hershey Bears received several players from the Caps on loan in preparation for the start of the AHL season. Today, the Bears announced their own roster cuts, trimming their roster by 10 players.

Among those cut were forwards Tim McGauley, Kelly Zajac (above, right), Dylan Margonari, and Stephen Collins, as well as defensemen Paul Geiger and Tommy Hughes. In total, six forwards, three defensemen, and one goaltender were cut. Of those 10 players, Margonari, McGauley, Zajac, Geiger, and Hughes were returned to the Capitals’ East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) club, South Carolina Stingrays, while forwards Taylor Cammarata, Andrew Cherniwchan, and Collins, defenseman Frankie Simonelli, and goalie Dylan Wells were returned to their respective ECHL teams after signing professional tryouts with the Bears. The full list of players cut is:

Forwards: Tim McGauley, Dylan Margonari, Kelly Zajac, Taylor Cammarata, Andrew Cherniwchan, and Stephen Collins

Defensemen: Paul Geiger, Tommy Hughes, Frankie Simonelli

Goaltenders: Dylan Wells

The Bears now have 14 forwards, seven defensemen, and four goaltenders remaining on their training camp roster, which can be found here. The Bears begin the regular season of their 80th season on October 7 against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in Lehigh Valley.
