Introducing ….

Last week we looked at how landmarks can become normalized to represent a cultural viewpoint and the impact this has upon the individuals intrepretation and response, this week I want to demonstrate how a photographer can use images to not only provide a vision representation but also collate these images to provide a story which delves into the recesses of a subject to explore the impact on society.

While I am no more than a snap and shoot photographer who captures personal memories, one photographer that I admire is Teju Cole –  I find his work not only engaging and stimulating but it is forever evolving.  It does not sit stationary and wait for the world to move, it endeavours to stimulate conversation and interaction.  This I think marks his work as exceptional to me, its continual evolution draws the viewer into another place and time where they are free to contemplate, for I think we often look but we rarely see.
