Library of Souls is the third and final book in the Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children trilogy. If I remember correctly, I gave Miss Peregrine’s four stars and Hollow City five stars, so I have been enjoying this trilogy even though it’s taken me so long to get through it. But I’m still not sure how I feel about Library of Souls.
Library of Souls picks up exactly where Hollow City stops, so you’re thrown right back into the story, just like between Miss Peregrine’s and Hollow City. I feel like this book had a lot of the same problems I had with the first one; there wasn’t a lot of action and I wasn’t as gripped with it as I was with Hollow City. I think I was just expecting too more from this book, since it was the finale and I find myself expecting a lot from the final book of a trilogy and it never holds up.
I will say though that I loved the interactions between all of the peculiars – well the ones that we got to see. I would have loved to have seen more since that’s one of my favorite things from this world. The ending to the big “final battle” between our gang and the wrights seemed a bit anti-climatic to me and I found myself just wanting more from it. And then the ending of the book in itself seemed a little rushed to me and was very abrupt.
Overall, I did enjoy this series but I don’t think I’d choose to reread it. Though if you’re looking for a fun read full of adventure and friendship, then I would still recommend giving this series a go.
