Monday Thoughts: I ASSumed It Was…

“Assumptions are quick exits for lazy minds that like to graze out in the fields without bother.”- Suzy Kassem, Rise Up and Salute the Sun: The Writings of Suzy Kassem

My, my. How quick are we to assume things without knowing all the facts? We have a habit of jumping to conclusions based on minimal data. Our mind can actually see, hear or read something and draw a complete conclusion by assuming all is known that needs to be known.

I have been guilty and sentenced myself after assuming I knew the reason why something was happening in a particular situation, when there were other factors involved. (Shame on you, Sylvester) I have learned to wait it out until the reason unfolds as to why this or that was taking place.

Although our view may be blurry, we still assume we know what’s ahead. We have to be careful about jumping head first into conclusions and about assuming we know before we get the whole story or reason. You’ll save yourself a lot of headaches and heartaches. Never assume the worst right out of the gate. Don’t let your thoughts plant worst case scenarios in your mind without getting all the information in.

How many times have you said to yourself ” It wasn’t even what I thought it was.” or “It wasn’t about me.” Put assuming on hold and wait until you get the whole story..
