Morecambeology Part 7: One-minute Wonders by Peter Wade

It’s Friday, it’s 5.45 … it used to be Crackerjack! Nowadays, Friday teatime sees the release of the latest short film about the history of North Lancashire on the LuneTube website.

The first one-minute wonder launched on 1st September was “Terrible Lizards” about Lancaster’s dinosaur man, Sir Richard Owen. Dapper presenter David Chandler did a splendid job, keeping his cool while being stalked by a Tyrannosaurus Rex in Dalton Square. It seems he managed to give the T-Rex the slip and was back the following week with a tour round the sites of Morecambe’s past cinemas and a visit to the Cinematograph Trade Benevolent Fund’s plot in Torrisholme Cemetery.

LuneTube’s third release was about the Shelter Stone in the limestone quarry at Trowbarrow Wood near Silverdale.

You can find teasers for forthcoming films by visiting the LuneTube website at www.lunetube.co.uk and sign up for regular updates (please note – it’s probably best to put the full website address into your search engine of choice otherwise you may find yourself in a slippery situation!)
