review 1: I'm really undecided about this book. I really enjoyed it as it began. Mary approaching David Rakera recently bereaved private investigator, to find her son who died 5 years ago. She believed she had seen him recently and wants to know where he is, why he disappeared and what has happened to him since he went missing. Initially David refuses to take the case but eventually decides he will. As the story progresses I lost some interest and I felt it all became slightly unbelievable and I worked out the ending fairly early on. I am prepared to give the series a chance and read another to see how they progress.
review 2: Tim Weaver's latest book has been on my to read list for a while but I decided to go back to the start with this book first. It was fantastic
... moreand if I had read the book without knowing the author I would've thought it was a Simon Kernick book. Taking place over 11 days the action does not let up and from the first few chapters the story keeps you gripped and guessing right up until the book's final climax. Weaver has created a fantastic character in David Raker. However I felt certain aspects of the book were a tad unrealistic but as this is fiction I want these sorts of books to be more like that rather than 100% realistic. Overall a great read and I can't wait to see where Raker goes next. less
