Blurb:

Evolutionary psychology professor Henry Hathaway is ready to spend his birthday the same way he does every year: a good teeth cleaning followed by lunch with his brother. But when he receives a wrong-number text confirming the details of a date, he does what any considerate person would—he goes to meet them and explain why they’ve been stood up.

Asher Wescott hadn’t expected his blind date to go well, because when do they ever? Henry shows up instead, and things are suddenly looking up. Socially awkward and attached to his routines, Henry is nevertheless one of the most charming and kind men Asher has met in a long time.

Too bad he’s not Henry’s type.

An accidental date, an impulsive kiss, and a few conflicted feelings later, can Asher get Henry to see the world—and him—in a different light?

4 Stars

If you are looking for a sweet, low-angst read with an adorably clueless main character – Textual Relations is for you! This story is just feel-good love from start to finish and I adored Henry and Asher!

Henry is a psychology professor, he’s pretty particular and always follows a routine and is quite awkward. Every year on his birthday he has dinner with his brother and it’s then that he receives a text about a blind date. He’s sure the person has the wrong number but goes to meet them so he can let them know, so they aren’t sitting there waiting for someone to show up. This is how he meets Asher, fun-loving, never do the same thing twice Asher. Asher convinces Henry to hang out and explore with him and so begins their journey.

Henry, in his sweet naivete does not realize that Asher is gay and that he thinks it’s a date until at the end of the night he ends it with a kiss. A kiss that changes Henry’s whole world. He always thought he was straight, but being with Asher ignites something completely new in him. I felt like this story really was about Henry coming to terms with who was and really figuring out what he wants.

There is definite chemistry between these two and it does go deeper than just in the bedroom. It was sweet and romantic and a bit awkward being in Henry’s head at times, but a great read. This was one of those books that just made my heart happy! I definitely enjoyed this book from Cate Ashwood and look froward to more from her!
