New releases: June 2017 - romance - Owlish Books

When I don’t have the time or don’t want to put in the effort to really get into a story, I turn to romance. And because of work, moving, vacation, family and social obligations and everything else, that’s what I’ve been reading and reviewing a lot lately. That’s why I decided to look at the newest romance releases on this last Wednesday of the month. So let’s check out the latest Romance books that will be coming out this month. Other new releases of June 2017 can be found by genre right here on Goodreads.

  • Dating You / Hating You by Christina Lauren
    Publication date: June 6th 2017
Despite the odds against them from an embarrassing meet-awkward at a mutual friend’s Halloween party, Carter and Evie immediately hit it off. Even the realization that they’re both high-powered agents at competing firms in Hollywood isn’t enough to squash the fire. But when their two agencies merge—causing the pair to vie for the same position—all bets are off. What could have been a beautiful, blossoming romance turns into an all-out war of sabotage. Carter and Evie are both thirty-something professionals—so why can’t they act like it? Can Carter stop trying to please everyone and see how their mutual boss is really playing the game? Can Evie put aside her competitive nature long enough to figure out what she really wants in life? Can their actor clients just be something close to human? Whether these two Hollywood love/hate-birds get the storybook Hollywood ending or just a dramedy of epic proportions, you will get to enjoy Christina Lauren’s heartfelt, raucous, and hilarious romance style at its finest.

    Publication date: June 27th 2017
Twenty-four-year-old truck stop waitress and single mother Catherine Wright has simple goals: to give her five-year-old daughter a happy life and to never again be the talk of the town in Balsam, Pennsylvania: population two thousand outside of tourist season. And then one foggy night, on a lonely road back from another failed attempt at a relationship, Catherine saves a man’s life. It isn’t until after the police have arrived that Catherine realizes exactly who it is she has saved: Brett Madden, hockey icon and media darling. Catherine has already had her fifteen minutes of fame and the last thing she wants is to have her past dragged back into the spotlight, only this time on a national stage. So she hides her identity. It works. For a time. But when she finds the man she saved standing on her doorstep, desperate to thank her, all that changes. What begins as an immediate friendship quickly turns into something neither of them expected. Something that Catherine isn’t sure she can handle; something that Catherine is afraid to trust. Because how long can an extraordinary man like Brett be interested in an ordinary woman like Catherine…before the spark fades?
  • Damaged Like Us by Krista Ritchie & Becca Ritchie (Like Us #1)
    Publication date: June 27th 2017
Don’t date your bodyguard.  It was the one rule he had to break. Maximoff Hale is a force of nature. A ship unwilling to be steered. Headstrong, resilient, and wholly responsible — the twenty-two-year-old alpha billionaire can handle his unconventional life. By noon, lunch can turn into a mob of screaming fans. By two, his face is all over the internet. Born into one of the most famous families in the country, his celebrity status began at birth. He is certified American royalty. When he’s assigned a new 24/7 bodyguard, he comes face-to-face with the worst case scenario: being attached to the tattooed, MMA-trained, Yale graduate who’s known for “going rogue” in the security team — and who fills 1/3 of Maximoff’s sexual fantasies. Twenty-seven-year-old Farrow Keene has one job: protect Maximoff Hale. Flirting, dating, and hot sex falls far, far out of the boundary of his bodyguard duties and into “termination” territory. But when feelings surface, protecting the sexy-as-sin, stubborn celebrity becomes increasingly complicated. Together, boundaries blur, and being exposed could mean catastrophic consequences for both.
  • The Knocked up Plan by Lauren Blakely
    Publication date: June 23rd 2017
There are three little words most guys don’t want to hear on the first date. Not those…I mean these… “knock me up.” This single gal has had enough of the games, the BS and the endless chase. I know what I want most, and it’s not true love. It’s a bun in the oven, and I’m not afraid to hit up my sex-on-a-stick co-worker to do the job. Ryder is gorgeous, witty and charming — and he’s also a notorious commitment-phobe. That makes him the perfect candidate to make a deposit in the bank of me. I won’t fall for him, he won’t fall for me, and there’s no way baby will make three.
Right? There are four words every guy wants to hear on the first date — “your place or mine?” When my hot-as-sin co-worker makes me a no-strings-attached offer that involves her place, my place, any place — as well as any position — I can’t refuse. After all, my job is like a coach and my latest assignment for the good of mankind is to create a fail-safe, battle-tested, proven guide of what to do or say to get a woman to fall into your bed — I mean, fall for you. So when Nicole says she’s game to work through my list in a hands-on way, I take her up on her deal even with her one BIG condition. There’s no way I’ll want more from one woman than any position, anywhere, any night? Except . . . what if I do?
  • I’ve put not one, not two, but three of these new releases on my to-read list! Not number one, because while I do like a good workplace-romance, this feels more like a cliche-filled Hollywood movie in book-form. Sure I’ll watch them when they’re on TV, but I don’t want to read them – I prefer something with a little more story and less predictability. And I’m not planning on reading number 2 either; I like paranormal romance, but I can’t even fully understand the blurb, so I have a feeling the book will be equally confusing. So it’s numbers 3, 4 and 5 that have ended up on my to-read list. A romance about a single-mother with a past and a famous sports player whose lies she saves trying to win her heart? Yes, please! I’ve never read anything by the Ritchie sisters (as far as I know), but from all the positive comments and reviews, it seems I’ve been missing out. What better way to start than with their first male/male romance? And finally, two people that start a purely physical relationship (she, with the goal of making a baby and he, to try out all his fantasies and write an article on how to get a woman in bed), which turns into something more, against both their expectations? Yum! Can’t wait for all three of them! I’m going to see which ebooks I can find already!

How about you? Does anything on this list sound interesting to you?

    Happy reading,

    Loes M.
