Top 5 Wednesday: Nostalgic Book Boyfriends/Girlfriends

Hey guys! I’m so excited for this Top 5 Wednesday post as this week we can take a trip down memory lane and revisit those characters we swooned over when we were younger! This is going to be so good!

This group was created by Lainey (Gingerreadslainey) and is hosted by Sam (ThoughtsOnTomes). If you want to participate, check out the link on Goodreads here.

1) Damon Salvatore (The Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith)

Using the TV show cover because I think everyone preferred the TV show to the books… But I read the books first and I absolutely adored Damon in the books. Then I watched the TV show and fell in love with Damon all over again! Damon’s character development is just incredible. He’s so misunderstood and everyone believes him to be a monster but he’s not. I loved watching him fall in love with Elena and seeing the way he was around her. He is very protective of those he loves and I just wanted to give him as much love as possible because he deserves it. He really deserves it. You can probably tell I was a Delena shipper.

2) Edward Cullen (Twilight by Stephenie Meyer)

I’ll be very surprised if Edward and Jacob don’t make it onto this list because in high school I was obsessed with Twilight and I was definitely Team Edward. Literally from the moment Bella laid eyes on them all, I was obsessed. This book introduced me to the fantasy genre and basically opened my eyes to a whole different world of books. These books got me interested in the supernatural. Such a shame Jacob was so damn annoying, though. I really loved Bella and Edward’s story.

3) Patch (Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick)

I read these books when I was sixteen I believe and straight away I fell in love wth Patch. He was such a fascinating character and his character development was so good. I think I loved how mysterious he was because you literally knew nothing about him. I’m drawn to mysterious characters, I swear. Plus he’s kind of a villain at the start and pretty much everyone is drawn to villains.

4) Gale Hawthorne (The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins)

I hated the ending of this trilogy. Hated it. I didn’t actually enjoy this trilogy at all, if I’m being honest. But what really annoyed me was the ending. I really wanted Gale and Katniss to be together so I was not happy when Katniss ended up with Peeta. It just felt so damn forced to me. I really loved Gale and thought he deserved a better ending than the one he got. Like every time he was in a  scene I was so happy. He was definitely my favourite in this trilogy. I really wanted a happy ending for Gale but, no. It didn’t happen.

5) Ever Bloom and Damen Auguste (The Immortals by Alyson Noel

I really wish I could forget these books, find them and then re-read them all. I hardly ever see anyone talk about these books and I wish more people did. Like I know they are pretty old now but I still love them! I love Ever and Damen so, so, so much! Right from the start I was obsessed with Ever and her story. Then when Damen came along I was even more hooked. These two were my favourite characters.
