Once A Rebel by Mary Jo Putney–Book Review-5-Stars

Don’t Miss Mary Jo Putney’s Newest Historical Fiction Release- Once A Rebel-Coming 8/29/17
I Loved It!

I thoroughly enjoyed this historical fiction novel. It is a well-written, heart-wrenching, and touching read. Mary Jo Putney is a great writer and storyteller.

Callie Brooke and Lord George Gordon Audley have been best friends since childhood. When Callie, at age sixteen, complained to Gordon that her father planned to marry her off, to an old Jamaican Planter, Gordon asked her to marry him instead. Their plan to escape and elope in Scotland, however, was thwarted. Callie was forced to marry right away, and Gordon was whipped, charged with kidnapping, and sent to a penal colony.

Life had not been easy for either of them, but fate was on their side. After fifteen years, during a British invasion in America, they met again. They were not the same people, though, their childlike silliness had dulled over the years, and their hearts, scarred. They decided to return to England to settle together and confront their childhood demons. Life, though, was not done thrashing them about; but their deep friendship and trust in one another carried them forward.

I was captivated from the first page. Don’t pass this book up. It’s a keeper. Thank you, Kensington Books and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy. I loved it!
