I was raised to believe that no one was ever born empty, and up to this day, I still hold very strongly to that belief.
As diverse as we are, so is our unique brilliance, talents, skills and giftedness. We were all born with something, which can make this world a better place.
But you see, sometimes we may not be able to fully put those talents to good use due to our environments, or unpleasant circumstances. In the past, I have found myself in situations where I had held on to my ideas and knowledge, because of the fear of being judged. And I know that so many people sometimes feel that way.
If you are leading a team, do you give people the opportunity to just express themselves, and spill out their ideas, irrespective of how dumb or foolish they may sound? If you are privileged enough to be in this capacity, it might be a wise thing to do to create an environment where everyone is at liberty to articulate their ideas, in a non-judgmental fashion.A former boss employed a very interesting approach when we attended team meetings. She always made it mandatory for everyone’s voice to be heard. We had a board where everyone took turns to put down their ideas, and this approach really fostered team collaboration, and unity. No one’s ideas were ever considered stupid, but rather, we all took the time to deliberate upon all that was written, and came up with a final strategy that was feasible, as well as more popular within the team.
This leadership style by my former boss really boosted my self-confidence, and gave me the understanding that my ideas could indeed make a difference. Everyone, no matter where we live or come from sometimes need a little bit of encouragement, or a boost which may help to bring out the best in us.
So, no matter who you are, and where you find yourself, never give in to the opinion of others that your ideas are not valid, because those are lies. Do not allow anyone chop off your intellectual wings, but rather give wings to those ideas of yours, by continuing to perfect your craft and skills.
Your ideas are indeed brilliant, exceptional and one of a kind, with the immense potentials to change this world for good. Keep breaking those barriers!
To your continued success. Cheers!!!
