Queen of Shadows Book Review

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas

4 stars for Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas!

“She was fire, and light, and ash, and embers. She was Aelin Fireheart, and she bowed for no one and nothing, save the crown that was hers by blood and survival and triumph.”
― Sarah J. Maas, Queen of Shadows

Okay, so honestly, this was a bit disappointing. I think Maas tried to make the plot more interesting by bringing even more characters and new backgrounds into the story, but it’s just getting too overwhelming for me.

I really enjoyed the first 3 books of the series, however, with the new load of information, I’m getting a little bit bored with it now. That’s why I didn’t inhale the book and finish reading it in a day. The original plot and characters that I fell involve with aren’t the same any more. Celaena is absolutely gone. Bye bye. I’m pretty sad because I liked her a lot. Now she’s 97% Aelin. And as I kept pressing, I LOVED CHAOL AND CELAENA AND NOW THEY’RE OVER WITH AND WORSE IS THAT HE’S TURNED OUT TO BE ANNOYING. Breathe, Shane. Alright.

I feel like Maas just wanted to let the series continue and add a few more books to the series, which explains why there are so, and I mean SO, many changes. Again, I’m just really disappointed. I want the old things back to be honest. Don’t get me wrong, there are new things that I love like Manon, Abraxos, and Lysandra. (LYSANDRA. I LOVE HER). As well as the Rowan and Aelin scenes. (Which are cute and HAWT.) But yeah, too much information now.

I’m still excited about what’s going to happen on the next books. And there’s Dorian, finally saved. I’m excited about his character too. And hello? More Faes please! I honestly love the Fae aspects so I’m super ready for her other series.
