I recently took out one of my little point and shoots across some of the streets of Melbourne. The Nikon Zoom 310 AF is solid performer, super loud but a solid 6-7/10ish. Like I’ve said in the past the lens isn’t exactly super sharp, nor is it incredibly soft. Totally middle of the road and totally expected for a consumer class weekender-with-the-grandparents shooter.
The photo lab I’ve been using gives you a freebie roll of Fuji Color 200 when you have a roll developed and scanned there. I had a few left over from the last few rolls I dropped off and decided to burn through them. Fuji Color 200 isn’t really my go to stock, I’m a 400H and Superia man, as you can see it’s a bit flat and a touch muted, even in strong light. On the subject of dev+scans, I will be moving photo labs after this roll to a new facility closer to home who provide much higher quality scans cause I’m all about quality these days…
Lately, for some reason I’ve not been shooting as much traditional “street photography” but more “anything that catches my eye” style, type stuff and I can’t really say why. Of late I’ve been been interested by greens, lines, interesting patterns, neon and the sky. A stark change from the usual suspects: people walking past a wall, the shot of a selfie, couple of people checking their phones, lost tourists and the like.
I’m not sure why the shift, but I guess I’m just trying to capture what’s around me and I’m tiring of constantly shooting human subjects who seem to be pretty much doing the same thing every day.
