review 1: This was a decent thriller that centers around two brothers and the murder of a teenage girl in their hometown. Both brothers, Kent and Adam live two different lives, but find themselves both connected to the dead girl. The story centers on their relationship and their mission to find out the identity of the murderer. I enjoyed the dynamics of the relationship between the brothers and reading about how they both try and mend their strained relationship. This book focused a lot on football, as Kent is local football coach for the high school team. I am not a fan of football and I felt the book had too much detail about football and the games that were played. This was a big turnoff for me and led to me giving this book a lower rating. 3.25 out of 5 ... morestars
review 2: The coming together of brothers over a similar situation that tore them apart was done well. The main characters had a lot of depth and were well developed. The book seemed to drag for me at the end, once I learned near the end (about 60 pages short), that the killer was a minor character mentioned earlier. Seemed like it was convenient versus tightly woven. The mounting tension of the football games mirroring the story arc was good, but got a little bogged down. I'm still mulling over the meaning behind multiple characters being named "the prophet." less
