Series: Steamy Coffee Reads Collection #1

He definitely wasn’t supposed to get that email…

Subject: My Boss.

Have I already told you that I hate my boss today?

Sexy as hell or not, this pompous, arrogant, ASSHOLE asked me to pick up his dry cleaning the second I walked through the door. Then he told me that I needed to take his Jaguar to a car wash that was ten miles outside of the city, but only after I needed to stand in a never-ending line to buy some type of limited, hundred-dollar watch.

I honestly can’t wait to see the look on his face two months from now when I tell him that I’m quitting his company and that he can kiss my ass. KISS. MY. ASS.

All those former fantasies about him kissing me with his “mouth of perfection” or bending me over my desk and filling me with his cock are long over. OVER.

Your bestie,
Mya

PS–Please tell me your day is going better than mine…

Subject: Re: My Boss.

No, you haven’t already told me that you hate your boss today, but seeing as though you’ve sent me this email directly, I know now…

Yes, I did ask you to pick up my dry cleaning the second you arrived to work to day. (Where is it?) And I did tell you to take my Jaguar to the car wash and pick up my thousand-dollar watch. (Thank you for taking five hours to do something that could be accomplished in two.)

You don’t have to wait two months from now to see the look on my face when you tell me you’re quitting. I’m standing outside your office at this very moment. ( Open the door. )

No comment on your “fantasies,” although I highly doubt they’re “long over.”

Your boss,
Michael

PS—Yes. My day is definitely going far better than yours…

Whitney G. delivers a sassy, sexy treat that will leave readers grinning with Naughty Boss! With a storyline prime for office mischief and a surplus of witty banter, this novella had me captivated from the very first page. While Michael was cocky, demanding and irresistible in a way that was totally infuriating, Mya was smart, hardworking and feisty enough to handle anything thrown her way. I loved the dynamic that Whitney G. cultivated between this couple. They shared an undeniable chemistry that seriously sizzled and I was on the edge of my seat waiting for things between them to combust – and let me tell you, I was not disappointed when it did! I loved the contrast between Mya and Michael’s actions/dialogue and their thoughts/private emails. There was a definite love/hate relationship brewing between these two and it only served to turn up the temperature on their story tenfold.

“You’ve just done your best to keep me out of your sight and far away from you, because you were thinking about having me as much as I was thinking about having you?”

There was also something deeper behind Michael and Mya’s connection that kept me invested in them beyond a physical relationship. Even when it meant he was being a total jerk, Whitney G. used Michael’s actions to lay the groundwork for his true feelings for Mya. I enjoyed being able to see the tiniest hints of trust, dependence and even respect for Mya that had formed over the course of the story. It gave me something tangible to hold onto while I waited for this couple to get their act together and give in to the possibility of having something real together. I would have loved to explore both characters’ histories more in order to really understand where they were each coming from, but in the limited length of this novella it wasn’t totally necessary and it didn’t really detract from the story. I think I just enjoyed Michael and Mya’s voices so much that I was left wanting more from them.

“You seriously expect me to be able to get to work and hold a ten o’clock meeting with you today?”
“Yes.” He pulled me toward the bed. “I have some former fantasies of my own I’d like us to fulfill in my office…”

I absolutely adored the email exchanges between Mya and her best friend, Amy. They were the perfect mix of supportive and snarky with an all-around hilarious tone that made me laugh out loud on several occasions. Amy and Mya’s relationship was genuine and fun – it definitely ended up being one of the highlights of this book for me. Naughty Boss is fast-paced, wasting no time at all before diving into the heart of this story. I loved the devious overtone of the enemies-to-lovers storyline and couldn’t get enough of the push and pull between Michael and Mya. There were some editing issues that had me pausing on a few occasions, but nothing that really compromised my overall enjoyment of the story. As always, Whitney G.’s writing is vibrant, full of feeling and charismatic. While I would have loved a full-length novel for Michael and Mya, I enjoyed Naughty Boss as the funny, delicious, little treat that it was and definitely recommend this novella for your next quick hot boss fix!

Whitney G.’s Naughty Boss is a quick afternoon read that is sure to wet readers’ appetites in more ways than one. With the contentious relationship between boss and employer, there is a love to hate trope happening and I soaked up every single second of it. This author has delivered two fun characters that left me aching for more, especially given the sexual tension that drew me in from that very first moment.

“His beautiful eyes met mine as I continued my short introduction, and for a split second I was reminded of how utterly gorgeous and captivating he was.”

Though Mya is cool and collected in the workplace, we get to see a whole other side of her in the emails she sends to her best friend. Whether they’re filled with complaints, steamy thoughts, or just jokes with her bestie, the way they helped drive the story forward had me smiling like a school girl. It was fun and different, and allowed for readers to witness a less serious side of Mya’s. I’m still sort of baffled by Michael, but I also can’t help but adore him. As a reformed bad boy troublemaker, he had all the makings of what attract me to my book boyfriends. This boss was in control, demanding, and alpha to the core. What I loved the most about Naughty Boss was that even in the moments of bickering and contempt between these two, the sizzle and tension could be felt through the pages. It kept me intrigued and needing to turn the pages to see how everything would eventually explode.

“I almost regretted taking out my sexual frustration on her by demanding so much. Almost.”

My only complaint was that the ending seemed really abrupt. It felt like I was just getting into some nitty gritty and then bam! The story was over. While I understand the length is meant to be a novella, I would have liked some of that final action to be drawn out slightly more. However, I was really impressed with Naughty Boss and miss these characters and their banter already. It may be my first novel by this author but if the steam and delicious tension is any indication of her talents, I can promise that it most certainly won’t be my last!
