review 1: Dali, a vegetarian weretiger who is super smart with 2 doctorates, has magical abilities, is legally blind when it comes to driving and hates blood, gets her thrills by racing on Buzzard Hwy. This of course is totally against the wishes of her Alpha, Jim, who only knows she’s alive when he yells at her about the racing. So she’s kind of surprised to find him at her house, sleeping when she gets home. He’s been hit with a curse that keeps making him sleep and he’s come to her for help. We get to learn a little more about Jim, and a lot more about Dali as the story is told from her point of view. We also learn that she’s considered very special in her family and I hope in a future story that we learn more about that. She’s the one to take the lead in this i... morenvestigation and she’s quite capable, both physically and mentally. As with all books in the Kate Daniels series, we get humor along with action and some mythology, and a peak into the Asian culture.The world building of the entire series is increased with this story. No sign of Kate or Curran, I believe the only characters we’ve met before are Jim and Dali.
review 2: Magic Dreams is a short fun little story set in the Kate Daniels Magic universe. It tells the tale of Jim, the Alpha of Clan Cat and how he ran afoul of a Japanese spider/whore demon through a stroke of "wrong time/wrong place" bad luck and was cursed with a lethal magic soul sucking sickness. Who else would he go to for help other than Dali, the magically inclined, caligraphy cursing, near sighted, vegetarian white tiger shifter - and his secret crush.Jim and Dali solve the mystery. Feelings are revealed and connections are made. I really enjoy Dali - she's a fun, funny character.Rawr! less
