A White House Chef Mystery
review 1: White House Executive Chef, Olivia Paras, must successfully navigate the changing of an administration, sticky relationship issues, and keep the First Family safe, when a box of chicken wings accidentally poisons some of the staff.I have just finished a children's mystery set in the White House and so wanted to see how another author treated this historic setting. Having read several memoirs from White House chefs, I was pleased that everything seemed to fit. The characters were authentic and engaging. The setting added interest and the food was also fabulous, as well as, the issues that arose from cooking for the more important people in the world.A delightful and fun read and I agree with the reviewer that wrote that she "may well be the Margaret Truman of the culinary m... moreystery." I have also enjoyed Truman's mysteries.
review 2: Once again, Hyzy has not only produced a fun and interesting read; she is also showing how to improve as an author. This novel is fun and entertaining. Olivia Paras, the White House Executive chef, is developing and hanging over time, creating a character who becomes ever more interesting and exciting. Reading the series consecutively reveals how Hyzy excels at forecasting and planting.I still recommend this series. less
