Review: Best Day Ever by Kaira Rouda

Thank you to the lovely ladies over at Get Red PR for sending me a copy of this book to read and review.

Book Blurb: Paul Strom has the perfect life: a glittering career as an advertising executive, a beautiful wife, two healthy boys, and a big house in a wealthy suburb. And he’s the perfect husband: breadwinner, protector, provider. That’s why he’s planned a romantic weekend for his wife, Mia, at their lake house, just the two of them. And he’s promised today will be the best day ever. But as Paul and Mia drive out of the city and toward the countryside, a spike of tension begins to wedge itself between them, and doubts start to arise. How perfect is their marriage, or any marriage, really? How much do they trust each other? Is Paul the person he seems to be? And what are his secret plans for their weekend at the cottage?

My Thoughts: Now this is not a spoiler whatsoever but I am telling you right now – from the very first chapter I could tell that I just did not at all like our narrator, the husband of our story Paul. I know you are supposed to not like him (as you will find out the many reasons throughout the book) but I had a hard time not wanting to jump into this book and give him a swift kick! It is a little slow in the beginning but you quickly realize that there is something going on and you will definitely want to keep reading to see how it all plays out. I cannot go into detail without giving too much away so I will leave you with this… if you enjoy a story with an unreliable narrator (which I do) than you should add this one to your reading list.

I was able to read the first chapter of Kaira Rouda’s other book called Plenty To Go Around and I cannot wait to pick up a finished copy!!
