Rain Wild Chronicles
review 1: 3rd Rain Wild Chronicles outing, with more about the Bingtown, Chalced, and other characters downriver from the Keepers and the newly invigorated dragons near Kelsingra. Tintaglia leave her mate after being wounded and heads towards the Rain Wilds again. Her Keepers, the original new Elderlings, become entangled with the new Keepers upon the unwelcome return of the riverboat Tarmin and escape upriver with their new child. Some more dragons gain flight and Kelsingra itself is relit once Sintara makes her way to the revivifying dragon baths after finally making it across. The Keepers continue to develop their relationships and get more organized about hunting and training the dragons to fly. Alise searches for another role once the Keepers realize they may be able to us... moree Kelsingra immediately after it lit up and act as modern-day Elderlings without her scholarly research. The Chalced Duke and his agents continue to influence both the Rain Wild City Councils and more directly with the bird keepers, Bingtowners like Hest, and Captain Leftrin alike. All await the Tarmin's return and nobody know what will follow in her wake! Not the best one in this series, but keeps the plot moving along and deepens understanding of the Elderlings and dragons and many of the characters.
review 2: I enjoyed this installment of the RW chronicles, but what I can't understand is why this series of books is in a 4 rather than a trilogy like all of the other series. I think each of the ones I have read so far has finished in the right place and covered everything needed to tell the story, but I finished all 3 books feeling like they should be a bit longer. When I compared them to the other trilogies they are 200-300 pages shorter. So by that reckoning, the final book could have been incorporated into the first 3 books. I didn't think this with either of the first two books, but this one felt rushed, with not enough time devoted to each of the characters and whats going on where they are. I still loved the story, the characters are amazing, and I really only feel a bit annoyed because I love the books so much. Let's see what the next one is like! less
