review 1: I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. This thriller involved a Templar scholar who committed suicide in a very unusual way. He had been researching ancient Moche tombs and customs. His daughter Nina and a journalist friend investigate because she doesn't believe it was suicide. In London, police are investigating several bizarre suicides that somehow seem to tie up to the Templars. And in Peru , Jessica and her teacher/boyfriend Dan Kossoy are discovering several Moche tombs which seem to indicate that they practiced macabre sex acts and self mutilation. All the while murders/suicides keep happening. Is there a curse? Or who is after the information and is trying to suppress it. Jess, Nina and Adam follow her fathers' travels hoping to discover the mystery. They discove... morer that it all centers around drugs. In the end only Nina and Adam survive. Everyone had a different reason to try and get the secret of the Templars. Rated 3 1/2 stars.Very interesting but the way the characters and locations kept changing was a little confusing.
review 2: I was originally attracted to this book by the jacket comparisons to the DaVinci Code. Was I misled! This book was filled with violence and profanity. It was an exciting story though that brought together three seemingly separate story lines into one final search that ended up in the middle of Mexican drug cartels. I would not recommend this book to anyone who is offended by profanity or sickened by extreme violence. That is why I could only give it three stars. less
