review 1: The story Silverlicious was written and illustrated by Victoria Kann. This book series has three other books that all follow the obsession a little girl has with colors. This story, however, is about the little girl losing her tooth and worried that she lost her sweet tooth. Pinkalicous first leaves a note for her tooth fairy to bring her something sweet and is astonished the next morning when the wrong visitor drops by. Between Cupid, the Easter Bunny, and a Christmas Elf, the little girl is not satisfied with the presents and the decoration they leave for her. On the last night of leaving a note, the tooth fairy left more than something sweet. Knowing the prior stories in this series allowed me to get an idea of how the plot was going to pan out. To my surprise, this add... moreition had a twist. Instead of her obsessing over a color, she obsessed over finding something sweet. It was refreshing to see this because after reading the same story with three different colors, I assumed it was going to bore me. The creativity behind the story was unique and exciting. Having the mythological idols each represent a part throughout gave a certain level of childhood spirit. I also enjoy how little words have a made up “pizazz” to them. This character is over the top and extravagant so it was nice to see the theme continue. Over all, this book deserves four stars because of its light hearted, yet creative plot. Unfortunately, this story is focused primarily on a female audience which does not allow this to be read as a universal book in an education setting.
review 2: This is my favorite of all the Pinkalicious books we have read so far. And we've read a lot of them. In Silverlicious, Pinkalicious loses her tooth. Unfortunately it's her sweet tooth. She leaves a note for the tooth fairy asking her to bring her something sweet to eat until a new sweet tooth grows back. Instead of getting a visit from the tooth fairy she gets a visit from Carlos Cupid, Edgar Easter Bunny and Elf #351. They all leave her candy but none of them taste sweet to her. Eventually, Pinkalicious learns that her sweetness really comes from deep inside herself and then she discovers that she can taste sweets again. less
