Rom v1 #20b (July 1981)

Marvel Number: AHA0085

Writer: Bill Mantlo

Artist: Sal Buscema

Synopsis: On Galador before the Prime Director Starshine accuses Terminator of the murder of Archon, King of the peace loving Thuvria. Terminator admits his guilt. Rom tries to stick up for him saying that unlike the rest of the spaceknights who can return to their human forms when the war is over, Terminator’s human form is diseased from a Wraith Plague. Prime Director is moved by Rom’s speech but says that Terminator is still responsible. As a form of mercy Prime Director offers him the choice of banishment or death. Terminator chooses death. He is zapped by the glowing orb and disappears into a pile of dust.

Elsewhere Terminator appears. Someone named Mentus tells Terminator he’s not dead because he is useful to him. Before Terminator can fight back, Mentus closes down the part of his cyborg mind that controls the armor.

Rom decides he is going to leave Galador and hunt down Dire Wraiths alone.

Notes: Though this is a backup story that takes place 200 years the main story, it does connect as the main story is about Mentus using Terminator and Starshine. A two-hundred year plan tells me Mentus is a really patient villain.
