The Unwritten
review 1: This series is one best read volume after volume after volume, as everything builds on what has come before. It is still enjoyable in singles, but I recommend a binge read in order to keep up with the ever-complicating plot. Mild spoiler: Carey and Gross shocked me with the two deaths here that lead to the release of a certain antagonist. The willingness of Carey and Gross to go there, to explore what that means in the popular culture, and to follow that up with a visit to Nazi Germany, shows that this book is not going to let the reader off lightly. Stories can be ugly and troubling, and that is necessary to push protagonists forward. Bonus points for the foul-mouthed Mister Bun.
review 2: Alright. So I really love the writing here and the story and the conce
... morept and the overlappings. In this particular...collection (I'm just going to call it that for my sanity), I thought it was really neat that we got to see the same events through different perspectives. That shift was really cool. Still enmeshed in the story, and love what it's saying about story and the interaction between story and real life. So completely and totally cool. less

I enjoyed volume 2 almost as much a volume 1 . . . this could become an obsession . . .

Really 3.5 stars. The story is what makes me come back to this series.
