Rug pulled out.

We’ve all heard change is good. Yet, most of us find it difficult to actually embrace change. Humans are mere animals, creatures of habit. One tricky part about change is it’s usually something we have to adjust to after the fact; we rarely have control over it.

The beautiful thing about being animals is we are able to adapt. There are events in life where we can accept them and then react positively or negatively.

When we choose to react positively, we gain a new outlook and we grow. We learn to better cope with change and can put our energy into going forward.

When we make the choice to react negatively, we trap ourselves. We remain trapped in the changed situation itself, allowing it to control us, and, ultimately, spend energy on what we cannot control. This is a surefire path to becoming bitter and stagnant.

Life can be a let down, tricky and choppy, not easy to navigate. Once we are able to steer through whatever storms we face, we are moving, living, on our way.

I think it’s far better to look to what’s ahead on the journey and face that path with resolve, strength, and faith in life being a beautiful mixed bag that we can choose to enjoy immensely.

Be excited about “yet.” Believe it can be good.

See Something, Say Something

I thought I’d say something

And for once keep quiet.

Maybe there’s no such thing

as being lonely.

We congregate religiously

as is our nature.

Crowds everywhere gather

formed by solitary worlds.

Look up, look away, look down, look behind.

Look me in the eye,

let’s pretend we see each other.

Solitude beckons us away

from the shared experience

of being ants marching

in and out of ant hills.

Up down, up down.

So much in out, in out.
