Sci-fi play set in the Philippines comes this Feb

Video games getting a little too real is nothing new in the realms of TV and cinema, especially in Hollywood. But picture this: A sci-fi stage play set in the Philippines, featuring a gamer from Balanga and a tiyanak.

Si Janus Silang at ang Tiyanak ng Tábon is playwright Guelan Varela-Luarca’s stage adaptation of the award-winning and best-selling young adult series of the same title by Edgar Calabia Samar. It tells the story of ordinary teenager, Janus, whose world is turned upside down when characters from his favorite computer game, Terra Anima Legion of Anitos (TALA) and comic books come to life, forcing him to confront the mystery of his bloodline and his destiny.

This February, Tanghalang Ateneo continues its 38th season with a production of the play under the direction of one of its alumni, Charles Yee.

Catch Si Janus Silang at ang Tiyanak ng Tábon on February 1 to 4, 7 to 11, 13 to 16, 18, and 21 to 25 at the Rizal Mini Theater, Ateneo De Manila University. Performances start at 7:30 pm, while Saturday matinee shows start at 2:30 pm.

Tickets are available at Ticketworld outlets and online at ticketworld.com.ph. For inquiries, contact Dean Silva at 0916-314-5475.
