review 1: Again, like the previous book in this series, this is not your typical regency romance novel. It is more of a drama than what you've may come to expect of miss James. If you're looking for an easy read to forget the real world for a bit, you'd be better of saving this one for another moment. But in my opinion it is worth the time to read.I had some trouble rating this book and like one of the themes in this story it has to do with expectations. I decided to rate it as a romance novel and in that I liked it, but with mixed feelings. There were parts where I wondered where the story was leading to only to be swept away by emotions so real and understandable that kept me going. The bits about Romeo and juliet and rapunzel for me did nothing to enhance the story. It was more l... moreike 'oh, so this is put in for the Fairytale sake': too obvious. Some other reviewers mentioned their lack of attachment to Edie. I can relate to that, although her character isn't all bad. The scenes in the marital bed when she looses her virginity felt very real to me, with is surely a change from all those heroïns in the typical romance novels that achieve nothing but bliss the first time around. So yes. There were issues with her character, but also something to applaud.Gawin in my opinion saved this novel. He is on all accounts langer than life and goes to hell and back to correct his wrongs without expecting her to do the same. I loved reading how he coped with the change in his fiance, about her demands and her changes to his routine. He just accepted all of it without once being an ass about it or without looking like a woos. A true hero worthy of a Fairytale. What would have made the story better?- without the references to the fairytales. It got annoying and didn't serve a purpose- Edie would have to come down from her high and mighty tower. Now Gawin is the only one giving something up to be happy. She should have done something for him as well.- without the references to the Smythe-Smith girls. Again, fun for the author, but no real plus for me as a reader.
SAKIT SEKALI!. Good Job Eloisa James ! less
