Spiritual Leaders for Real Life

When I began to discover the Law of Attraction and alternative wellness I discovered something about that world; I didn’t fit in and I never was going to. I knew this because even though I am all for “positive mind, positive life” type stuff I knew I was never going to willingly set my alarm for 4 o’clock every day to go run. I knew I would never wear a suit or “dress for success” even when I didn’t have a job and pretending to be happy all the time got old years earlier. But at the same time, I was never going to stop wearing makeup or “go off the grid” either. Even the people at the local churches and metaphysical shops seemed to be putting on an impossible image for the rest of the world. There didn’t seem to be anywhere in “the new age” for me to fit. But I also noticed that the techniques worked for me just like they worked for everyone else.

I started to look for answers to why the Law of Attraction would be working for me even when I wasn’t doing everything as perfect as everyone was saying I had to. These three people helped me discover why and I think they are examples of where the spiritual movement will find itself in years to come.

Or at least I hope so…

Teal Swan

I discovered Teal Swan when I was researching an experience I had with a cult group overseas. Even though I wasn’t involved with the same group as her I was comforted by the fact that she was brave enough to talk about it just because she KNEW someone else would benefit from it. That knowing is what I like about her. She knows things rather than believing them or guessing at them and having to backtrack later.

Her style is a style which I see other spiritual leaders just beginning to use now. In her “Ask Teal” series on YouTube she practices what others preach. She simply sits in front of the camera and talks about subjects like responsibility, hopelessness, money and feeling like things are out of your control. She does this in a direct and non-judgemental way that tells her audience they are not alone and there is a solution that is not going to come from ignoring the problem or willing it to go away.

Not only that but her voice is one of the most calming and focused sounds I have ever heard. It’s absolutely clear that she was made to talk to people.

I recommend starting with her YouTube channel because there is SO MUCH CONTENT then going deeper with her books which are on Amazon and her own website: TealSwan.com

Gabrielle Bernstein

I discovered Gabrielle Bernstein about the same time that I discovered Teal Swan. I would call her “spirituality for overachievers”. She was guilty of the work-a-holic mentality living in New York, late nights, early mornings extremely stressed-out etc.

But instead of doing a 180 and ignoring this part of her life in favor of moving to the middle of nowhere she embraced where she came from. When I discovered her she still lived in New York and was focused on writing and publishing. But instead of detracting from the spiritual side of her teaching she used it to make it practical. She was the first person I had heard talk about yoga and meditation who didn’t make me feel like I had to quit my job and start wearing maxi skirts to be validated.

I recommend starting on her website and become the happiest person you know!

This is Not a Paid Post

Even though it does seem like I’m going to make a lot of money from this post I’m not. I’m not even an affiliate of either of these two. I simply noticed when talking to various spiritually-focused people that I know that they didn’t know who these people are. So I thought maybe some of you would like to know them too.

Thanks for reading!
