The Writing Journey…

Deciding on the title of my very first blog of The Forgotten Stream has proven to be a challenging. I honestly have no idea what I truly want to write the first post of many. I have already written a brief summary of what this blog will be about on my “About” page.

I do remember how fun it was to decide on what my future book’s title is going to be. I try to keep the title as unique as possible so it wouldn’t show too many results when people are searching for my book. The titles I have so far are Luscious Love, Zombie Rain, Unheard Destruction, and Dark Revelation.

All but Luscious Love has been pulled out from the publishers. They have reverted the rights back to me on all the titles. Luscious Love was the freebie I have done for fun. It was published to Smashwords where it published to all other online retailers such as Amazon, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, and so on. I just checked Amazon to see how it ranked and it surprised me to see that it is still in top 20 for short story in LGBT category. You can view the screenshot of it–

I honestly find it hard to believe that it still ranked in a good spot, especially, when it was published in 2011! It gives me a hope and a motivation to get back to writing. It has been a long dream of mine to expand Luscious Love into a much longer and well-developed novel. Wendell and Caleb have so much story to tell. Luscious Love was too short to be able to provide a depth romance developmental between those two.

My other short story, which was part of the Queer Fear anthology that also had been pulled out of the online retailers, titled Dark Revelation is one of my personal favorite story I’ve written thus far. The ending was a bit rushed due to the deadline I need to meet or it wouldn’t be in the anthology. It got pulled out fast because it apparently wasn’t selling well.

Zombie Rain was actually my first “paying” work and I’m not entirely satisfied with the novel even though I’ve got plenty of positive reviews on it. I was still learning all about how to write a fiction when I wrote Zombie Rain. I knew there is a lot of improvement to make the novel much stronger and be well developed. Especially the characters’ developmental and the world-building.

Unheard Destruction was going to be my best, but I wasn’t completely connected to the story and it, again, felt rushed when I finished the novel. It also was the longest I’ve written so far. I honestly wished it wasn’t published yet. I wished I gave it more time to make the story better. It originally came from a short story I wrote called Rusty’s Surprise. It inspired me to write a sci-fi novel, but it didn’t flow well. It didn’t take that long to have my rights back from the publisher. That also opens up a new opportunity for me to fix the book and finish the trilogy I originally planned for Unheard Destruction.

That’s a brief summary of what’s happening and what I want for my writing to achieve. There are so many stories I want to write, but starting with a first word is hard. To think of what would capture the audience’s attention was what I’m struggling with. I know I shouldn’t work hard in that area since the opening can be fixed once the story is completed. It is just how my mind works. Eventually, I will achieve what I start with.
