Today I’m trying something a little different I want to have a go at ….. that it’s just another way of getting more traffic and you guys can get to know more about me…
Well my preferred things are mostly being on the beach in the beautiful sun shine, you’ll often find me in amongst the rocks in the rock pools looking at the life I can find. Having a 3 year old makes this more exciting all over again. There’s nothing better than being in the rocks with a bet searching for new creatures and showing a pair of inquisitive eyes the wonders of the pools.
We have spent hours down there this year. Mostly in the pools but also floating around on various items. I grew up next to the beach. That beach is one of my favourite places. It’s got memories of my father and grandfather and their surrounding families fishing, playing and just relaxing on the beach. Summers days almost as beautiful as a winters storm, going down to find how the storm has changed the layout and what has been washed up.
Most recently this includes about half a meter of sand where the sea normally takes it away and hundreds of Portuguese Man of War. A type of jellyfish with quite an uncomfortable sting. It’s a beautiful jellyfish which is pink, blue and purple.
Most of the stinging tentacles had been knocked off whilst the poor jellyfish had been crashed and bashed against the rocks and in the tide. This leaves mostly the body behind so you can pick it up and have a good study.
Further down my favourite beach is the sea wall. As a child we used to play chicken in the stormy tide, trying to get close to the edge without getting washing away, being goaded by my older brothers to get closer than before and obviously losing. However much fun this once was I don’t fancy encouraging my son to do that. Instead we walk across the top when the sea has calmed, jumping in the puddles as we go to get to the other beach we’re we can play safely in the water.
