Top 10 Anticipated Releases of 2018!

My TBR for 2017 hasn’t even been completed, but as the new year brings even more exciting books, I’m going to be listing my top 10 anticipated releases of this year!  Starting with…

10. Scythe Neal Shusterman

Ok, so this was released before 2018, but the concept sounded so intriguing that I couldn’t resist placing it on this list! It’s set in a world where humans have beaten death, and so a select people, named scythes, are hired to manage the population by killing people. I know that it’s part of a series, so this could be a fun new series to start this year!

9. Everless – Sara Holland

A fantasy novel featuring a kingdom that uses time itself as currency. What could possibly go wrong? Like the previous novel, the concept of this sounds very intriguing, and I’d love to see how the world-building is achieved here.

8. Batman: Nightwalker – Marie Lu

Batman is one of my favourite superheroes, and having read Legend by Marie Lu, I have no doubts that this is going to be great!

7. The Cruel Prince – Holly Black

Holly Black has been one of my favourite authors since The Spiderwick Chronicles, so I can’t wait to see what she’s done with this new fantasy series. Centred around a mortal girl who is desperate to gain a place in the High Court of Faerie – despite being kidnapped and forced to live there since she was a child – this novel seems to be filled with intrigue and bloodshed.

6. Obsidio – Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Illuminae and Gemina were great, so I can’t wait to see how Kaufman and Kristoff conclude this series!

5. Leah on the Offbeat – Becky Albertalli

As a sequel to Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda, Leah on the Offbeat will centre around Simon’s best friend, Leah, who is dealing with her own anxieties about coming out as bisexual to her friends, especially as the group dynamics seem to be changing. I really loved Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda and all the characters, so I’m looking forward to reading about them all again.

4. Iron Gold – Pierce Brown

Usually, a series ends with the revolution having been achieved, but Iron Gold will explore how the world is rebuilt after the revolution that unfolded in Morning Star, the third book in the Red Rising series. I am curious to see what Darrow is like ten years down the line, but also what the world looks like now.

3. The Invasion – Peadar O’Guilin

As a sequel to The Call I can’t imagine how much more horrors these characters will have to endure! All I know is that I can’t wait to see how the fairies will try to get their revenge on Nessa, and how this duology concludes.

2. A Court of Frost and Starlight – Sarah J. Maas

Do I want a novella featuring the characters from the ACOTAR series following the war? Yes please!

1. Queen of Air and Darkness – Cassandra Clare

It’s no secret how much I love the Shadowhunter Chronicles and how much Lord of Shadows shocked me with that cliff hanger. This will be a conclusion to this trilogy and lead into the next saga of the Shadowhunter Chronicles, and with so many loose ends to tie up, I am so ready for this book!

What about you? What are your anticipated releases for this year?
