I’m not going to play around here but I will preface this all with by saying I read or reread all these books between January 2017 and the date of uploading this. Publication date doesn’t count as I read a lot of books this year.
Let’s jump right in.
15. Wanna Bet by KarinShe took the book down. I’m literally in tears because it was a Wattpad story and the writer took it down. From what I understand, Karin wrote the book at the beginning of her Wattpad Career and she took it down as she was embarrassed by it. I understand her but if that’s what she did at the beginning of her career then she has a bright future ahead of her.
The characters are lovable, the writing is stunning and the story line isn’t the main focus but it is still well done.
The only reason why the book is this low is because of the fact Karin took it down.
I still say the book is 4 stars.
14. In All The Bright Places by Jennifer NivenMy review of it here. Goodreads here.
My book review doesn’t talk about this book a lot. Quick Synopsis. GO: Main character Violet Markey is waiting for high school to end so she move away. Theodore Finch is ‘fascinated’ by death and is suicidal. They do a project together. The book is rather predictable so I won’t go into too much detail.
This book has slipped in my opinion, I gave it a 4.99 stars originally but now I think that it’s more of a 4.01 which is rather sad. The story holds a lot of weight and has a lot of feels throughout. It’s heartbreaking but beautiful.
It’s not higher because I realised that there are better books and I don’t like Violet as much as I would like to say I do.
13. Lord of Shadows (The Dark Artifices #2) by Cassandra ClareGoodreads here. My original review here.
This was the first book I reviewed and I still stand by what I said in that review except for the romance standpoint. I ship Julian and Emma so much, so I don’t know what I was saying.
But Cassandra Clare doesn’t like me all that. The Ending, Oh the ending. I wish Cassandra would tell me why she loves breaking her readers hearts. But that being said I love her writing and the characters and the series and the world.
So the series follows Emma, an orphan living with the Blackthorns. She is a shadow hunter (a half-angel warrior), as are the Blackthorns. Julian Blackthorn, her sworn parabatia (partner in battle) and her best friend, are very close.
As people get murdered in the same way Emma’s parents got murdered, Emma and Julian go looking for the murderer.
I say this ending killed me and I wish the third book was out already.
Not higher because I just didn’t rate it that high. Only 4.1 stars and because there are more books I thought deserved to be higher.
12. Poisoned Blade by Kate ElliotGoodreads here. My review here.
This story picks up after the ending of Court of Fives. So I don’t want to spoil it. The first book pops up higher on the list.
I typically think that when you have just finished a book you rate it slightly higher than you should. So 4.5 stars, I swear sometimes I don’t think straight. It’s still a good book, though. A really good book.
The story is about Jessamy, an athlete who cannot run the Court of Fives because of her parentage. She forms a friendship with one of the other runners. A prince who also shouldn’t be running the Fives. Prince Kal’s family doesn’t want him to run and will do anything to stop him from running. And Jessamy and Kal have to find their way out his family’s control.
I still think this book is really good but the first is definitely better and I wish I didn’t rate it so high because it doesn’t.
Reasons for not being higher- It’s only 4.19 stars and I think that the fact that at times I think it dragged, didn’t help.
11. The Hellhound (Book 2 of the Riders of Tyr) by Adelina JadenWattpad here.
I haven’t done a review of this. But I have made it known that I love this book because it follows some of two favourite characters and the writing is stunning. I think it deserves to be published.
The story follows Rage (a badass hunky biker who isn’t necessarily all that sane) and Iris (a small mechanic who doesn’t have a job). It’s pretty much how they meet and fall in love, in basic terms.
Not higher because I do adore this book I just have books with higher rankings (this is 4.2 stars) and the fact that it’s a typical fiction story that is so well written.
