Top 5 Wednesday: Children’s Books

Hey guys! It’s time for another Top 5 Wednesday. This week’s theme is Children’s books –This can include Middle Grade (but try to recommend more than just Harry Potter and Percy Jackson!) Feel free to talk about your childhood faves or more recent reads. I am so excited for this one because there are a lot of books I’m starting to think of. It’s going to be tough to narrow but I’m very excited for this one!

Trial by Journal By Kate Klise, M. Sarah Klise (Illustrator)

Reason: This is hands down one of my favorite books I had to read for school. It was such a fun read. It is filled with lots of drawings that made it very fun and enoyable. I also had to read this for school and to my surprise it was actually a book I wanted to read. I remember that teacher had some good reading material so she knew how to grab your attention. I sadly don’t remember what this is about but it is a book I really want to read again. If your into children’s literature, I highly suggest checking this one out.

Amelia’s Notebook by Marissa Moss

Reason: This is another series I remember reading when I was younger. I really liked books with drawings. I feel it’s such a lovely aspect added to books to draw you in. This is another one I don’t really remember the exact story but I remember enjoying it and I kinda can picture the drawings in my head. This is something I could see myself checking out if I found it at a bookstore or the library by me. I feel I might need to recheck these books out soon.

Encyclopedia Brown, Boy Detective By Donald J. Sobol

Reason: Okay so you guys know I love mystery books. Well these books were some of the first mystery books I read. I remember reading these when I was younger and loved them. Each story is a different case and then if you can’t figure it out the answer is in the back. I loved that about these books. You’re basically a detective on the case as well. How fun is that. You could take as much time as you wanted to try to figure out the case. I miss these books and would love if there was an adult version of these. If anyone knows any please let me know!

The Adventures of The Bailey School Kids By Debbie Datley and Marcia Thonton Jones

Reason: Man do I miss these books. These were fun books to read as a kid. The children in the book always have some weird teacher that they suspect may be someone that’s made up. In this case they believe the cafeteria lady is Cupid. These books were adorable and really enjoyable to read as a kid. I loved all the different people they would encounter. I don’t know remember if they were the people they believed them to be but I wouldn’t mind checking these out at some point just to see. They’ll probably be a quick read and I would love to get a refresh of these books.

Horrible Harry in Room 2B By Suzy KlineHorrible Harry in Room 2B By Suzy Kline

Reason: So these are books I barley remember reading but I know I enjoyed because I read a couple of these books. I completely forgot about these books until I started making this list. Once again I wouldn’t mind checking these books out just to see what they were about. It’s crazy how as soon as I saw the cover I kinda had a little flashback of reading the book I just from that.

These were all books I remember enjoying as a kid. Have you guys read any of these books? What were some of your favorite kids books that weren’t super popular? All of these books are ones I would love to check out at some point. It would be nice to refresh and see what it was about these books that I loved so much.
