review 1: Interesting read: starts out a bit slow and disjointed but does come together as it moves along and holds your interest. Ending comes on you all of a sudden considering the slow buildup. I obviously did not enjoy this as much as this author's other books, right? Anyway, the story is about a judge who is being considered for the Supremem Court. Bottomline, as usual teh coverup is worth than the truth.
review 2: this was what is probably the last one by william tapply before he died. its not the ones like marthas vineyard with the detective, wife and kids that i love so much but it was really good. i didnt think i would like it, it started out political, with a man becoming justice for the president, but it turned out he married a underage girl while in viet nam,
... more she got pregnant and had a baby girl. he kept hitting her but when he tried to hit the baby she defended her and accidentally cut his eye out with a broom. he beat her badly , and the baby was taken to a orphanage. the mother was taken to France, she became a American movie star but got ms. she accidentally found a photo of her grown daughter (this was a stretch) and the daughter was a former cop. the mother was murdered before the daughter could meet her. but the daughter got together with the man and his daughter who was writing the movie stars life story and they figured it all out. it was good and i will truly miss william tapply, he died of leukemia. less

A not-so-nice Vietnam vet is slated to become a Supreme Court Justice...quick, good, light reading.

I found it really exciting even though it is not my kind of story.
