review 1: Beautiful Exposition of What Family MeansNot fair, ladies. You need to consider sequels to each of your 19th Century m/m romances, most especially this one. It's overwhelming in the way each main character, Everett Gerard, Lord of the Manor, and Miles Kenway, Keeper of the Abbey, manifests his feelings to the other and the reader--about the other man, about life goals and most especially about the ragamuffin boy, Ipsial, who enters their lives and pulls them together while others would pull them apart. This wonderfully paced and sensitively written psychological romance hits on all cylinders every step of the way, but mostly reminds us what it means to have, lose, seek, regain, and develop, a family. To paraphrase Oliver Twist, "Please ladies, I want some m... moreore!"
review 2: The story of Everett Gerard, Miles Kenway, and Ipsial is a sweet story from a historical perspective of three lost souls finding peace within one another. The story elicits hope from the reader. I would loved to have had an epilogue to this story, if for no other reason than to see what happens to young master Ipsial. Though Gerard and Kenway provided the m/m aspect of this romance...my focus typically strayed to the child. I liked this book and I would recommend it... less
