sedate is the soul
that has not known Love’s console
broken is the heart
from darkness cannot depart
lukewarm is the soul
who chooses to not condole
hardened is the heart
of mercy will not impart
ablaze are the souls
who illumine and extol
aglow is the heart
that has made loving an art
steadfast and selfless they are
shining like Bethlehem’s Star
where darkness abides
let the candles of our hearts
burn slow and steadfast
