Word Smith: Shyster

Word Smith: Shyster

According to Webster shyster is a slang word for a loathsome person. A cheat, a scoundrel. The person is professionally unscrupulous, especially in the practice of law or politics. It can also be defined as a business person who deploys fraudulent, or deceptive sales tactics. A shyster is often a slick talker, who can “con their victims” out of things rightfully owed to them.

Another word for shyster is a pettifogger, which sounds like a low-down crook of some sort, who is known to brag, boast and bloviate.

Does this description sound like anyone you know? Just asking.
