review 1: This was a book I received through an Early Reviewers giveaway. Although I am not a huge fan of short stories I really enjoyed most of these. They are all separate stores, so no need to read them in order, and while all of them have an academic overtone, they are quite good. Very creative writing and interesting characters that I could relate to, even if I didn't necessarily like them. Rebecca Lee has a wonderful way with words - very beautiful and descriptive prose.
review 2: This was a set of short stories that I picked up for the Free Book Day event this year. The titular story was quite good, well plotted and encompassed within itself, but most of the other tales seemed stuck in that rut of writer writing about either writing, learning to be a writer, or a
... morecademia. Likewise, the last few read as excellent ideas for longer narratives that seemed to not go anywhere. Writing a short story is a different animal than longer prose. Ah well, it was a quick vacation read. less
