review 1: Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Not in a derogatory way or anything but that's basically the whole book. Either internal monologuing or dialogue. It's extremely invigorating, but dumps you at the end a bit frazzled and wondering if the author had a deeper message behind her obvious point. The obvious point is obvious. But there is no answer to the "should you, then....?" that stems out of the obvious point. And why is Frank considered all noble and stuff? Although the main family lauded him as some kind of angel-among-devils, he was a fairly despicable and immoral guy with not much common sense and bad eating habits to boot. All the drama is like a sugar rush and you will finish the book very quickly. But there's not much behind the rat race of a front. I guess if you can extrac... moret an answer for yourself out of the tangle of characters and surreal situations, it's worth it. But I'd prefer the author to at least drop one clear hint.
review 2: I'm usually pretty good at guessing who dunnit. This book, however, was my waterloo. One of its flaws was that all of the characters (and there were many) were all developed about the same amount, not necessarily any of them to a full degree. This was one of the few books I've read where this worked. Each person was almost equally suspect.Excellent point, throughout the book... words have power - be careful how you use them. less

Slow start. Interesting storyline, but not the most well written.
