Recently I was privileged to join the launch team for this amazing book, Walk It Out by Tricia Goyer. My dear dear friend encouraged me to join – she had already been reading the advance copy, and she knew that I needed to read it, too.
Without really knowing anything about her story, I’ve actually been following Tricia on social media for years. She’s the author of over 70 books, including Amish fiction, as well as non-fiction. She’s always been an uplifting presence – her love for teen moms shines through her posts, and I always knew that God was using her compassion to show young women how to find redemption. But I’d never read any of her books personally. Until this one.
And this was an amazing book to start with – I found something that spoke directly to me in every chapter. My journey really doesn’t look very much like Tricia’s, yet somehow she, through telling her story, has encouraged me to do what the title says – Walk out my faith every day, saying “yes” to the big and little things God asks me to do along the way.
This has been something I’ve fought over the years. It’s a big part of the sporadic blogging and the identity crisis. Because the things God is asking me to do are uncomfortable and leave me vulnerable (don’t they always??). Seeing that Tricia has gone through the same struggle, and never regrets saying “yes” – emboldens me to do the same.
I’m not going to give away the whole book, but here’s what you can expect:
- Connection. It has been so helpful to see someone else wrestle with the same questions I have. Tricia is always compassionate, never condemning. She wants you to know that she’s been there, too.
- Inspiration. Y’all. Seeing Tricia’s journey through her eyes, from delaying obedience to finding fulfillment and joy in doing what God has called her to do – it makes me want to move forward!
- Action. This book is not all personal story and inspiration. Tricia tells you how to Walk It Out. She points out the common areas that hold us back (too busy, too afraid, too ashamed…) and gives action steps to get passed them. I’ve already put one in to practice!
- Hope. Our work alongside the Lord is never in vain, because it isn’t our work but His. He gets the glory, He works out the details. We just walk.
Speaking of hope, I hope you’ll read this book. I hope that you will gift it to other women in your life. God uses the messiness of our lives to bring messages of hope to other people. We’ve all let fear and shame hold us back from partnering with God for to long – let’s Walk It Out!
Blessings,
